Chris ‘Kato’ Ju was born and raised by Korean immigrants in Fairfax, VA where he attended elementary and high school. During his early college years, he attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, where his love for creating music began. While in Philadelphia, he started a rap duo with a high school friend – C.U.R.E. (Can’t Underestimate Real Emcees), where he took on the alias ‘Inkarnation’ and played the dual role of artist/producer. They soon released a demo that included 4 self-produced tracks. Shortly after, he relocated to Georgia where he lived with his family for a year and continued to make music, also taking on a new alias

In 2012 Kato became a member of the SMKA production collective and continues to produce music for numerous major and independent artists. Widely known for crafting Jarren Benton’s sound, Kato has developed a direction and energy in his music that has made him a highly sought after producer. In addition to production, Kato is a self-educated audio engineer who often records, mixes and masters many of his records.
