SMKA is a boutique music production, branding and development firm in Atlanta, GA. Founded in 2008, SMKA has been directly involved in nearly every aspect of the music industry, including: Event Production, Music Production, Licensing, Distribution, Consulting, Branding, Social Media, Marketing & PR.

Music Production / Beats

SMKA was originally founded as a music production company, created by a team of producers.  Today, SMKA is considered one of the best emerging production companies in Atlanta.  We have added talented producers & musicians to our team in order to diversify our sound, and reach.   Since 2008 we have worked with over 150 artists and are working with new artists every week.

SMKA is also one of the few music production companies with a platform to help promote the music we produce.  We have a built in fan base that we connect with through email updates, twitter, facebook and our blog.   Our music is regularly featured on some of the top media outlets in hip-hop and can be heard on local and online radio stations across the US.

Executive Produce: Album, Mixtape or EP

SMKA has produced, and release, dozens of successful – and critically acclaimed – projects, including our series The 8o8 Experiment and (artist) meets SMKA.  In a time when dozens of new mixtapes are released every day we understand the importance of marketing, branding, and quality content.   We have the experience, and resources, to help an artist (or company) create a meaningful, dynamic project.  In addition, we can help bring together the creative team necessary to execute the visuals, videos, audio engineering, marketing and strategic release.

Our EP packages include 3 months of conceptualizing, branding, creating, execution and follow-up.  We help establish realistic goals and expectations, and then work hard to try and exceed them.

Since 2008, the SMKA branded projects have had over 500,000 cumulative downloads and have been featured in nearly every major hip-hop blog and media outlet in the US, including: Nah Right, Complex, Fader,  XXL, 2Dopeboyz, HipHopDX, The Smoking Section, xclusivezone, illroots, DJbooth, RCD-LBL, GoodMusicAllDay, EarMilk, OnSmash…and hundreds more.

Mixtape Hosting

In 2011 we began hosting mixtapes to help up-and-coming artists – with a great project – obtain more exposure.  We have relationships with a number of mixtape hosting sites (i.e. LiveMixtapes, DafPiff, DJbooth.net) and can offer different packages depending on the budget and needs of the artist.

NOTE: SMKA must approve the music and cover art before we argree to host a project.

 

Event Production: Branding / Booking / Promotion / Execution

SMKA has produced and promoted dozens of  successful hip-hop events in Atlanta.  Since 2008, we have worked with nearly every possible hip-hop concert venue in metro Atlanta.  Mike Walbert (Co-founder of SMKA) is a partner and the artist director for the annual A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta.  A3C has quickly become one of the largest hip-hop festivals  in the US, hosting 200+ artists & DJs, 10+ educational panels, DJ battles, MC battles, B-boy competitions and much more.  SMKA has also produced events at CMJ and SXSW.

 

Mixing & Mastering

SMKA works with a few professional audio engineers that have mixed and mastered all of our projects to date.  Our in-house engineers can mix a song or an entire project.  We offer extremely competitive rates in order to provide a service we feel is a necessity – yet often overlooked – for independent artists.

 

Music Videos

SMKA has produced dozens of music videos.  We have found the right music video is one of the most effective promotional tools for artists, and one of the best ways to connect with a larger audience.  We work with an array of talented videographers and production teams in Atlanta to create the right look and feel for the video.

Branding & Development: Artist / Corporate

We work with a great group of creative, hard-working and talented people who can help create and/or develop your brand.

Artists: You are a brand. In order to connect with an audience, artists have to develop and create an image that appeals to fans (more specifically, your target market), and we can help. Your brand needs to be authentic and genuine, yet unique. The problem is there are millions of other artists in the world. If you would like to succeed, it’s important to develop (and maintain) a strong and lasting brand.

Corporate: It is becoming more and more difficult to reach consumers in a meaningful, lasting and cost effective method. However, if done right, music can be a viable and cost-effective way for a brand to reach its target market and have an actual impact.
