A panel discussion on Women in Hip Hop business is from 7 – 9 p.m. Panelists include Dee Dee Murray, the General Manager of Purple Ribbon, Jessica Weber with Spectre Entertainment, Ms. Dia, on-air personality for WRFG 89.3FM, emcee and singer Stacy Epps, social activist Dr. Taj Anwar and beat maker, producer and emcee Tiye Phoenix. The panel is moderated by Kecia Ellick of the Red Bull Music Academy. All seven women have cultivated successful careers in an industry that is not only dominated by men, but that is notorious for its degradation and poor representation of women. Hip Hop photography by Kat Goduco will also be on display in the venue all day.
After 9 p.m., the live performances are only available to those 18 and older with an A3C festival pass or $10 entry fee. The lineup includes Tennessee’s husband and wife duo Natural Habitz; Smile Ray’s Daisey; Boog Brown, Rita J and Adrift da Belle who all star in the upcoming film “The Pathways”; and finally New Jersey’s Polyrhythmaddict’s Tiye Phoenix. Phoenix won the 2006 Meet The Producers (MTP) All-Female Beat Battle Invitational as well as the MTP 2006 Championship, contending as the only female against eight, previous male champions. The stage will be hosted by 95.5 the Beat personality Mo Reilley.
