If you are from Atlanta, Enjoy good music or have a pulse you shuld support Jaspects. They are an under appreciated jazz fusion group from Atlanta, and we had the pleasure of working with Stagolee (the sax player) a couple weeks ago.
The initiative, titled The Polkadotted Stripe Project, will be an interactive website [thepolkadottedstripe.com] where fans will be able to delve into the topics of social, political, and economic freedom addressed in Jaspects’ The Polkadotted Stripe. The website will feature music and lyrics from the album along with video blogs from the collective explaining their intention for each song. The vivid explanation of each song will be presented in tandem with artist interpretations of the music, making the site an experience for Jaspects, the artists, and most importantly the fans.
The Polkadotted Stripe Project hopes to attract politically charged artists to append Jaspects’ music by creating works of art inspired by The Polkadotted Stripe. Art pieces may include, but are not limited to: paintings, sketches, graphic design, animation, photography, poetry, essays, and editorial pieces.
“What is The Polkadotted Stripe about?” The concept of Jaspects’ fourth effort procures from the world of fashion. Delving deep into research, Jaspects learned that the fashion truth bastardizing the marriage of polka dots and stripes is man-made. Therefore, The Polkadotted Stripe inquires: “What is truth?” Upon much discussion and studying, Jaspects recognized that in most instances reality is—well—relative. With that in mind, The Polkadotted Stripe defined is someone or something that debunks the notion of social standards.
